The Trust We Have Been Given
The American Rural Heritage Foundation is dedicated to preserving the land, communities, and enduring way of life that define rural America. We believe the strength of our nation has always been rooted in her soil — in the families who farm it, the neighbors who share it, and the generations who have cared for it before us.
We are guided by a simple conviction: the land and its resources are a trust from God. They were given to us to steward well, and to pass on in better condition than we received them. That trust calls for the careful conservation of our soil, our water, and the natural resources that sustain rural life and, in turn, sustain the nation.
We believe a sovereign America depends on the quiet strength of her countryside — on citizens who own the land, families who feed the country, and communities entrusted with the resources beneath their feet. A nation that cares well for these things remains free, secure, and self-reliant.
We believe that thoughtful development strengthens communities, and that every decision affecting rural land deserves transparency, careful study, and the voice of the people who live there.
Above all, we stand for the enduring values that have long defined rural America — faith in God, love of country, devotion to family, the dignity of hard work, and a deep respect for the land.

American Rural Heritage Foundation is building a network of trusted local leaders — one in every county — who can watch what is happening on the ground, warn their neighbors when it matters, and speak with authority about the land they know best.
We call them County Captains.
They are the reason a lease offer in Cheyenne County does not go unanswered while the rest of the state is looking somewhere else. They are the reason a zoning change in Neosho County reaches the neighbors in time to matter. They are the reason a family facing an easement negotiation in Ellis County knows there is somebody a phone call away who has seen this before.
